He is the Professor-Director of the UGC Human Resource Development Centre and Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (UGC-HRDC & MMTTC) at Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur, Rajasthan. In this role he leads faculty development programmes and UGC refresher courses for university and college teachers across India, on themes such as NEP 2020, Indian Knowledge Systems, artificial intelligence, multidisciplinarity and sustainable development.

A biotechnologist by training, he earlier headed the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology at Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur. His work in organic farming and biodynamic technology began at the Bio Dynamic Technology Dissemination Centre, Lucknow, on a World Bank-supported project, where he saw farmers forced to use expired biopesticides.

That experience led him and a team of researchers from Mohanlal Sukhadia University and Banaras Hindu University to develop nanoparticles that greatly extend the shelf life of biopesticides, packed in an easy-to-use capsule. The university was granted a patent for the work in April 2019; its Vice Chancellor called it the university's first patent of its kind and a likely breakthrough for low-income farmers.
